RSS
My Subscription Options
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication – it is a mechanism that allows you to subscribe to receive our news in your favorite newsreader. Think of it as the pipe that carries our content to your desktop for consumption. You will need a newsreader (or aggregator) to actually view our articles. There are many to choose from and the process is relatively simple to follow. Newreader software is typically free and often found within the products that you are already using. For example, Yahoo, Google, Firefox, Internet Explorer all offer newsreader functionality. If you are looking for something to use, try asking Google what is best.
The Common Craft Show offers an excellent educational video called, “RSS in Plain English” - it’s only a few minutes and worth watching if your’re new to RSS!
You can also receive our news via email by signing up under ‘Receive Our News by Email’. This is a good place to start for those not yet comfortable with RSS.
The email signup looks like the below graphic (this is solely an image) and can be found in the top righthand corner of the navigation if we offer the service. If you do not see this graphic and wish to sign up for email updates, please contact us.
What is the benefit of using a newsreader then you ask? With an RSS Reader you can sign up to receive multiple feeds in one environment. Local news, world news, news from your favorite blog, etc all come into one area for your consumption. If you are a fan of online news, this is the way to go!
